Here is the latest update from the Club Committee regarding the Club lease:
“Although we have yet to reach agreed terms for a new lease, we continue to be encouraged by the steady support from members, neighbours, local businesses professional advisers and councillors. The financial support and professional advice provided have been especially valuable. We will let you know as soon as we have more positive news.”
The Club’s updated Food Safety Policy is available here and under the Club Rules section of the site.
With the Summer Tournament coming to a close this weekend, the Autumn Tournament sign-up will be available from 1st September until the 14th with the draw available from the week after. Autumn Finals Day is on Saturday 9th November.
After a short break for the summer, Tennis and Tea is back on Sept 14 with play from 2 – 4 pm with some tea and cakes after. This is a great opportunity for all players to mix in ahead of the Winter season starting.
The Firsts came a very close 3rd in Division 1 East losing out on 2nd place, and promotion, due to Rubbers count-back to Penarth 1. The Second team also finished 3rd in Division 4 East finishing just 5 points off 2nd place in a very competitive division.
The First team were playing in the top regional division, Premier 1, with the best Men’s players in South Wales. They played some brilliant tennis through the season although unfortunately finished 5th, ahead of Rhiwbina in 6th, and will play in Premier 2 next Summer Season. This marks the best performance for the Whitchurch Men’s 1sts in the top Division. The Seconds had a very strong season coming 2nd in Division 4 East, missing out on coming top by 1 point, and will be promoted for next year. The Third team were playing in Division 7 East finishing 3rd, just a few points off 2nd place.
Overall it was a very positive season for the club with some good end of season momentum going into the Winter Season.
